My interest in the brain began with a university open lecture that showed how seemingly abstract brain functions can be understood through scientific data. During my undergraduate studies in Life Sciences at Gachon University, hands-on research in anti-aging and anticancer studies gave me a solid foundation in cellular and molecular biology, and presenting at academic conferences broadened my exposure to a wide range of research topics and approaches.
My current research interests center on neurodegenerative diseases and cell–cell interactions in the brain. In particular, I am keen to study neuron–astrocyte–microglia interactions using co-culture systems, and to explore microglia replacement and genetic engineering approaches for developing new therapeutic strategies for neurodegenerative diseases.
