Seongeun Han
Research Question: TBA
Seongeun is an undergraduate student majoring in Systems Biotechnology at Chung-Ang University.
Her academic interests began with psycholinguistics, focusing on how humans acquire and conceptualize language. This led her to develop a deeper interest in neuroscience.
Her first research experience was at UNIST, where she investigated the mechanical stability of nucleosomes using a magnetic tweezer system. By analyzing histone-histone interactions under varying torsional stress, she discovered a passion for scientific inquiry and decided to pursue a career as a biomedical researcher.
She later joined a project exploring the role of glial cells in the regulation of paternal behaviors at KAIST. Working with pups sparked her interest in the neurobiological mechanisms underlying different neurodevelopmental stages, ultimately leading her to join the Yoo Lab.
Her research goal is to understand how disruptions in brain development lead to neuropsychiatric disorders, especially social deficits and autism, and to help develop effective treatments.
Education:
(2022 - Present) B.S in Systems Biotechnology, Chung-ang University
